Art Vogel, beloved husband of Rose Vogel of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on June 9th, 2003 at the age of 85 years.
Born in Dundurn, Saskatchewan on August 17th, 1917 Art received all his education there. He moved to Rolling Hills with his family in 1939 and farmed in the area. Art and Rose Ball were married on December 10th, 1951 in Rolling Hills. He was a director at the Rolling Hills Credit Union for 15 years and served as County Councilor for 8½ years, before retiring to Brooks in 1985 where they have resided since. Art loved his family, fishing and all sports, especially football. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others.
Art was predeceased by his parents Theo and Bertha Vogel. He is also survived by his loving family, son Allen of Brooks, daughter Dianne Zahenaiko and her husband Ron of Rolling Hills and son Dale and his wife Doloris of Edmonton; 4 grandchildren Stacey and Jason Zahenaiko and Carmen and Ciera Vogel; 1 sister Ruth (Lloyd) Bott of Rolling Hills; 4 brothers-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 12th from the Rolling Hills Community Centre. Rev. Jerry Daniels officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were Bill Sinclair, Jack Whittaker, Mick Shackleton, Leonard Goodheart, Sam Toly and Charlie Carratt. Active Pallbearers were Eric Skrove, Ron Sereda, Pat Hemsing, Dave Goodheart, Moe Carey and Leonard Lundquist.
