Sam Toly of Brooks, Alberta formerly of Rolling Hills, Alberta passed away November 7, 2006 in Medicine Hat, Alberta at the age of 78 years.
He was born March 2, 1928 in Grljevici Hercegovina, Yugoslavia and immigrated to the Picture Butte area when he was 10 years old. Sam and Isolde were married in Picture Butte in 1954. They moved to Rolling Hills in 1961 where they farmed and raised their family until their retirement to Brooks in 1995.
Sam was predeceased by his wife Isolde and leaves to mourn his passing and treasure precious memories his children two sons Doug (Virginia) Toly of Bassano, Dean (Beth) Toly of Brooks, three daughters Joan (Dale) Lundquist of Red Earth Creek, Alberta, Brenda (Bill) Dudas of Lethbridge, Alberta, Diana Toly (Terry) of Brooks. Grandchildren Jeffrey, Andrea (Ben), Robyn (Ryan), Kayla (Kevin), Dara, Jaclyn, Bryan, Cole , Austin, Jarrid, Amy (Marc), Curtis (Rolene). Great Grandchildren Davis, Tavia, Zoe, Maclaren. Brothers Mark, Mike (Bobbie). Sisters Eva (Casey), Mary, Lucy (Gerry). Sister-in-law Charlotte Hirch (Reinhold). Brother-in-law Norbert (Lorrie) Hirschkorn.
A family graveside committal was held on Friday, November 10, 2006 at the Brooks Cemetery and a memorial reception followed at the Brooks Legion for friends and family. Memorial donations in Sam’s name will be gratefully accepted to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
