    On Wednesday, May 28, 2003, Mrs. Toshiko Takeda of Burnaby, BC passed away peacefully at the age of 93 at the Burnaby General Hospital.

    She is survived by her loving family, daughters Fusako Ohama (Albert) of Calgary, Shigeko Ando (Mark) of Vancouver and daughter-in-law Nancy Takeda (Hiro) of Scandia, Alberta and numerous nieces, nephews, 17 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

    She was predeceased by her husband Nakasaburo Takeda, daughter Nobuko Yano and two sons Michitoshi and Hiroshi Takeda. Born in Ehime-ken Japan on October 3, 1909 where she married her husband in 1924 then moved to Ramond, Alberta in 1925, where they farmed. They moved to Rosemary, Alberta in 1943. After her husband passed away in 1974, she made her home in North Vancouver. She moved into the Nikkei Home, Burnaby, BC in September 2002. Toshiko enriched the lives of everyone around her with her passion for Sumie (Japanese Painting).

    She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Her beautiful paintings will be enjoyed by future generations.

    A memorial celebration of her life will be officiated by Reverend Kawamura on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Heritage Inn. Lunch to follow.
