Yukio (York) Tamura of Duchess passed away peacefully in Brooks on April 20th, 2004 at the age of 83 years. Born in Haney (Maple Ridge), British Columbia on July 28th, 1920 York received his early education there. He attended the University of British Columbia and graduated with a degree in Agriculture. York moved to Duchess in 1946 and farmed with his brothers Mort and Mac. He loved his family, baseball, football and hockey. York was predeceased by his parents, 3 sisters and a brother. He is survived by his loving family, brother Mac and his wife Mary of Duchess and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 26th from the Brooks United Church. Rev. John Theiss of the Trinity Lutheran Church officated. Honorary Pallbearers were all York’s family and friends. Active Pallbearers were Ron Tamura, Greg Tamura, Ross Tamura, Hiro Tamura, Neil Langevin and Cam Evans.
