    Purcell – Joseph Clarence of Brooks, AB. passed away suddenly, out walking with his sticks. He was born in Kingston, ON. to Henry and Mary Elizabeth Purcell and raised in Dinsmore, SK., served in the RCAF during WWII, married 1945 in London, England to fellow Canadian service person Doris Garner. After the war, they returned to Canada and farmed at Dinsmore. Later moved to Saskatoon, Wakaw, wintered in Tucson and moving this last two years to Brooks. Clarence loved nature, fishing, travelling and camping in Old Blue, cottage at Wakaw Lake, square dancing, cribbage, hiking and shuffleboard in Arizona, putzing, Toronto Blue Jays and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He is predeceased by his wife, Doris, parents, two brothers, two sisters-in-law and one grandson. Clarence is survived by his daughters, Darlene (Carter) Curran of Brooks and Bonnie (Ed) Jenkins of Hudson Bay, SK., six grandchildren and their spouses and thirteen great-grandchildren. There will be a private graveside service at Dinsmore, May 27, 2017 with lunch to follow at King George Hall, 2:00 PM for the community. In memory of Clarence, if friends desire, donations can be made to either Brooks and District Health Foundation, Long Term Care, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B3 or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, Room 124 Professional Building, 430 – 6th Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 2S8.

    Cremation is entrusted to Smith Funeral Home Ltd. and Crematorium, Brooks.
