PETERSEN, Arthur “Art”
August 20, 1936 – March 15, 2016
Arthur “Art” Petersen was born in Beistrup, Denmark on August 20, 1936 and passed away on March 15, 2016 in Claresholm, Alberta. He was 79 years of age.
Art is survived and greatly missed by his wife Darlene; son Shayne (Karen), grandchildren Paige (Delane), Trent and Carlee; son Lance (Tara), grandchildren Mitch and Joelle; his siblings Knut and Hertha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Art was predeceased by his mother Gertrude and father Arthur Petersen; sister Poudi Siebert and brothers John and Ben Petersen.
Art “Buster” arrived in Canada in 1954 and lived at Brooks, Alberta. He worked at numerous jobs but was best known for the 14 years he spent at Nelson’s Mens Wear in Brooks. In 1970, he purchased a store in Claresholm and made it his own, calling it Art’s Mens Wear. It was a fixture on Main Street until 2002, when Art retired. He also enjoyed camping, gardening and spending time with his family.
At Art’s request, a private family service has been planned for a later date.
