    Petersen – Lois Katherine Petersen of Brooks, beloved wife of Peter, passed away in Brooks on Tuesday, December 15th, 2015 at the age of 77 years. Lois was born on July 22nd, 1938 and she was raised on the Tiegs’ family farm, which was located just east of where the Brooks Museum now sits. She received her education in Brooks and later attended Secretarial Business School in Calgary. Lois met and later married Peter Petersen on November 20th, 1959. They farmed near Tilley and raised their family. In 1985, Lois and Peter moved to their Brooks home, where she resided until her passing. She was active in her community and spent many hours on the phone organizing food and volunteers for the three Cs. Lois offered logistical support for the farm, feeding the hired men, driving combine, working with the leafcutters, raising a garden, and anything else that was required to keep the ball rolling. She believed in cuddling kids more than having shiny floors. Lois spent countless hours attending her 4 kids’ sporting events, 4-H, figure skating and hockey games. Her favorite pastimes included reading, curling and playing cards with friends. Lois always had time to visit when her family or friends stopped by. She loved knowing what was happening in their busy lives. Lois is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Peter, her children; Donald (Colli), Diane (Ed), Christine (Gord) and Donna (Laine), 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. . Funeral services were held on Monday, December 21st at 2:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. John Theiss officiated. In memory of Lois, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Brooks and District Health for Dialysis, Bag 300. BROOKS, Alberta T1R 1B3 or to a Charity of Choice.
