William Wayne Stenger of Tilley, beloved husband of Cynthia passed away in Tilley on June 15, 2021, at the age of 61.

Our family is sad to announce the passing of Willy Stenger.  Willy was a loving father, husband, and grandfather.  He worked in the oil patch for 41 years and loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife Cindy, son Jr. Stenger, his wife Amy, and their children Kennedy, Keegan, Griffin, and Hudson.  His daughter Tiffany Nakatani, her husband Jeff, and their children Trinity, Mila, Aleeya, and Ryker.  His Mom Willamette, sisters Wanda Orliszki, her husband Cliff, and Wendy Rawleigh, her husband Wayne, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.

Willy was predeceased by his father, William and Daughter Kerri.

Matz – Pearl Ann Matz of Brooks, beloved wife of Mike Matz, passed away at her home in Brooks on Saturday, June 19^th, 2021 at the age of 68 years. Pearl Ann Matz was born on May 27^th, 1953 in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Andrew and Barbara Harty. She was the sixth of seven children along with brothers, Leonard (Dorothy), Lloyd (Martha), Kenneth (Diana), Gregory (Diane), and sisters, Alice (Roy), and Ruby (Mel). She was raised in Medicine Hat until she met the love of her life Mike Matz and moved to Burdett, where they farmed and raised their two daughters Michelle and Kendra. They moved to Brooks in 1991 after selling the farm. Mike and Pearl were married for 47 years. She worked in bakeries slicing bread and then became a stay at home Grandma as her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, she had a special connection with each and every one of them. Pearl will be remembered especially on Christmas for her “best gravy ever”, her infectious laugh, throwing her slippers at her grandchildren, her love for every reality TV show and her endless collection of kitty sweatshirts she wore on a daily basis (and she hated cats). She has always reminded her family that “everything always works out in the end no matter what.” She was predeceased by her Mom and Dad, Andrew and Barbara Harty, her sister Alice Flaig and brother Kenneth Harty. She will be missed by her loving husband Mike Matz, daughters Michelle Matz (Dale), Kendra Johnston (David), and the highlights of her life her grandchildren Michael, Mackenzie, Morgan, Matt, Kristopher, Kolton, Emily, and her great grandson Kaison.

Tweedle – Dorothy May Tweedle was born May 18^th, 1942, only daughter of Ken and Sarah Badgerow. Dorothy was the third of four children, along with brothers, Ron (Vickie), Cecil (Alice), and Dave (Winnie “Sis”). She was born and raised in Carnwood, AB and attended school in Carnwood and then Breton. Dorothy married Ross Tweedle in 1961 and lived around the Empress/Bindloss area, before moving south to Enchant in the spring of 1966. Ross and Dorothy lived and worked at Circle E Grazing, formerly Lomond Grazing, where Ross was Lease Rider and manager until his death in 1991. Dorothy lived at Mel and MaryAnne’s farm for the next year, before moving to Brooks with her new partner Wayne Duckett. They lived together in Brooks until Wayne died in August, 2010. Dorothy remained in Brooks, surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbours. She loved coffee visits, gardening, anything with wolves, baking, and spending time with her great grandchildren. She loved to travel, with a highlight being a trip to Hawaii for her 75^th birthday with her daughters and granddaughters. She was well known for her amazing “grandma” cookies! Dorothy was predeceased by son Tex Donald, husband Ross, parents Ken and Sarah, partner Wayne, and granddaughter Angie. She is survived by daughters, Cindy (Myrl) and MaryAnne (Mel); grandchildren Lynnette (Ryan), Megan, Curtis (Tracy), Jackie (Russel), Dusty, and Cody, and great grandchildren Cole, Jax, Reid, Olivia, and Hannah. Dorothy was “Grandma Dorothy” to many more, and well loved by everyone. Dorothy lived a full and active life before succumbing to complications of a heart condition on June 15^th, 2021. A small Family Service was held on June 22^nd, 2021. Interment at Lomond Cemetery. In memory of Dorothy, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to HALO Air Ambulance, 12 Vincent Avenue SW, Medicine Hat, Alberta   T1A 5G4.

Wilson – Clinton Edward Wilson of Rolling Hills passed away at home on June 10^th, 2021 at the age of 82 years. Clint was born on October 13^th, 1939 in Vidora, Saskatchewan to Floyd and Bernice Wilson.  The family relocated to Rolling Hills in 1940, where Clint grew up and attended school.  During his younger years he took on odd jobs helping out the local farmers.  Clint was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved to go hiking, where he would collect all sorts of odds and ends on his travels.  Clint also loved to hunt, fish and trap.  He attended the University of Calgary, where he achieved a bachelor’s degree in Science.  Summer employment took Clint to Ontario, where he remained employed by the Ontario Government until his retirement in 2000.  At that time Clinton returned to Rolling Hills, where he remained living in his family home until the time of his passing. He is predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Bernice Wilson, brother Vern Wilson and sister Anne Wilson. Clinton is survived by his brother Larry, sister-in-law Myrna (Vern); nephews, Kelly (Dayna) and Kevin (Colleen); great nieces, Amanda and Ashley; great nephews, Riley and Travis and  great, great niece, Rachel. In memory of Clint, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to either Canadian Wildlife Federation, 350 Michael Cowpland Drive, Kanata, Ontario   K2M 2Wl or Ducks Unlimited, 350 Aqueduct Drive, Box 818 Brooks, Alberta   T1R 1B7. Mary Anne Baerg 1931- 2021

Mary Anne Baerg, nee Klassen, of Rosemary AB passed away at Sunrise Gardens on June 3, 2021 at the age of 90. Mary was born January 17, 1931 in Winkler, MB to Woldemar and Olga Klassen, a little sister for Elizabeth. At the age of four her mother died and her father remarried later that same year. Nine years later brother Walter was added to the family. In 1946 the family moved to Chilliwack where Mary met George, while attending the same school and Church. They were married in 1953, and over the next 10 years had five children. George’s teaching career moved them to several locations in BC, and in 1976 to Winkler MB. In 1992 George switched from teaching to pastoring and over the next ten years they served as interim pastor to various churches. In 2002 George retired and they settled in Rosemary, AB. Mary was a devoted wife and supported George in all his endeavors. Having gone to church her whole life, at the age of 13 Mary asked Jesus into her heart and was baptized a few months later. She joined the church and actively served in various capacities throughout her life. She was strong and capable, physically and emotionally. She enjoyed hard work, reading, sewing, puzzles, and knitting. She will be remembered by many for her long Christmas letters, good food, open hospitality, and devotion to Christ. Predeceased by her mother, stepmother Elizabeth, and father, husband George in 2015, and grandson Nathaniel, she is survived by her sister Elizabeth and brother Walter (Karen), children Rob (Joyce) of Rosemary, Rick (Annette) of Rosemary, Margaret Peters of Winkler MB, Lisa (Warren) Krushel of Calgary, Katherine (Dan) McCallum of Thompson MB; 13 grandchildren & 22 great grandchildren. Family graveside service will be held on June 10, 2021 at Rosemary Cemetery and a public memorial service will be held in July. Albert “Bert” Russell Hanson

August 4, 1940 – May 26, 2021

Bert passed away peacefully May 26, 2021 at the age of 80 following a week in palliative care in the Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre following a short battle with cancer. He cherished the visits he was able to have with his family.
Bert was born in the Drumheller hospital August 4, 1940 to Harry & Florence Hanson.  He graduated from Morrin High School and began working with Alberta Government Telephones (AGT, now Telus) working with the tech guys and on call for phone transition problems.  This is where he met Grace Hunter, whom he married in 1961, moved to Edmonton where they started their family with two boys. In the mid 60’s they purchased their first home in an upstart community named Sherwood Park where eventually a daughter became part of the family in 1971. They moved to Brooks in 1973, working in oilfield construction. Their fourth child, a boy, was born shortly after moving to Brooks.  He took an interest in welding, obtained his welder certification and became owner/operator of Greenbook Welders mid 70’s.  Bert joined the Brooks Volunteer Fire Department in 1977 and was an active volunteer firefighter until leaving the fire department in 1986.  He returned to Drumheller in 1992 and worked in various jobs in the community and even worked with Bill Hunter, surveying even after he retired.
Bert enjoyed hunting, fishing and all things horse related.  There are numerous stories about hunting and fishing trips with many friends.  He enjoyed watching the Chuckwagon races and spent time with his daughter attending horse shows and most recently helped her break a new horse.
He leaves behind his four children Dwayne (Kaz), Dale, Arlene (Rob), Derek (Tammy); his eleven grandchildren Stephanie (Ryan), Cameron (Sarah), Jackie (Dan), Jamie (Tyler), Michelle, Maranda, Taryn (Payden), Jayden, Oryanna, Dakota, Ty; and his twelve great- grandchildren Cailyn, Mackenzie, Mikayla, Sean, Chloe, Ryithe, Aryiah, Whylee, Wryker, Raiden, Karsyn and Keyen.  He was predeceased by his parents; his sisters Evelyn & Dorothy; and his brother Gordon.  He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who loved him.
A Celebration of Life and Interment will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morrin Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Morrin Community Center. HOTEL – Gerald Robert Hotel of Drumheller beloved husband of Patricia Hotel passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 4, 2021 at the age of 74 years.
Gerry was born on December 22, 1946 at Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. He spent his younger years on the family farm in Austin, Manitoba until his family moved to Portage la Prairie when he was nine years old.
Gerry found his true passion and calling when he started baking, he lived in many places honing his craft, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, B.C. and Alberta, owning many bakeries over the years. In 1992 Gerry became employed by Freson IGA in Hanna and then Drumheller until 2009 as the Bakery Manager. In 2010 Gerry was employed by CSC Canada Food Services at the Drumheller Institution. Gerry always said, “as long as I enjoy going to work and am able, I will keep doing it”.
Family, especially his grandchildren were Gerry’s joy, his happy place. He loved to be busy, in his yard, outdoors and camping. Gerry will be dearly missed by his loving family and a lifetime of friends.
Gerry leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Patricia, two daughters Leslie (Darcy) Landon, Melissa (Jon) Samson, two sons Bradley Hotel and Jared Hotel, two grandchildren Brooklyn and Brody Landon.
Gerry was predeceased by his parents Robert Leroy and Violet Muriel Hotel, his sisters Anne Heath, Shirley VanRassel and Marsha Ducharme.
A private family service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 by invite only. Courtney-Winter’s Funeral Homes are in care of the arrangements.

Lester Bauman, age 66 years, passed away to be with His Lord on June 5, 2021 at his home in Stirling after a short journey with cancer.

He is loved and missed by his wife Marlene, son Rick (Martha), and daughters Kris (Nathan), Melissa (Dale), Rosy, Suanne, Bonita, and eleven grandchildren. He is survived by one sister, Anna (Dean). He is predeceased by his parents Titus and Salome and sisters Ada and Betty Myers.

Rieder

Keith Edwin Rieder passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on May 31, 2021 at the age of 74 years. Keith was born on September 4, 1946 in Oxbow, Saskatchewan to Philip and Eileen Rieder. He grew up in Frobisher with his older sisters Sylvia, Phyllis and big brother Lawrence. Keith’s oilfield experience started in Southeast, Saskatchewan at the age of 17 years old with Commonwealth Drilling. He later moved into oilfield maintenance, working for his brother in law Bruno, at Valleyview Oilfield Services in Oxbow before becoming a battery operator. Keith met his beloved wife Glenda in Alameda, Saskatchewan where they were married on August 25, 1967, starting a life of 53 years together. In 1972 they left Saskatchewan, for Brooks, Alberta along with their recently born first son Joel, to progress Keith’s career in the “Oil Patch”. Shortly after, in 1973 their second son Dana was born.  Keith advanced his career in the oil and gas sector taking on various field leadership roles in Drumheller, St. Albert and Taber. Keith always found the time to support his boys in hockey and other athletic endeavors while holding them accountable to maintain good grades in school. He was very proud when they both went on to attend university, received degrees and established their careers. With his busy schedule he managed to fit in time with friends and enjoyed hunting, fishing and curling. Many memorable summers were spent camping and boating with the family over the years travelling around Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Keith’s love for the lake led him and Glenda to Stafford Lake, Alberta where they fulfilled a dream of owning a lake front property. The lake was the perfect place for family gatherings, having a cold Kokanee, retirement and to keep his five grandchildren Keagan, Greyson, Campbell, Daxton and Madison busy having fun. Keith always needed to be doing something and his passion for landscaping flourished at the lake. Over 14 years Keith and Glenda developed a beautiful lakeside retreat where many memories have been made that included their 50^th wedding anniversary. The lakeside retreat also provided an ideal place for Keith to relax and unwind after his many cancer treatments over the past five years. Keith’s journey with cancer and life has ended and we are all so proud that he fought to the end and enjoyed life to the fullest. From his early years to his final day, Keith “Lived Life On His Own Terms”. He will be dearly missed.

Along with his wife Glenda Rieder, Keith is survived by his two son’s, Joel (Karey) and Dana (Monica), five grandchildren Keagan, Greyson, Campbell, Daxton and Madison, sister Phyliss and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Phillip; mother, Eileen; sister, Sylvia; brother, Lawrence.
