Chapple – Roberta (Robbie) Chapple of Brooks, Alberta, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 5th, 2024, at the age of 80 years. She was born in Virden, Manitoba on June 30th, 1943. She was the eldest of 2 children. She spent her youth in the Vancouver area and then moved to Edmonton to begin her career in the legal field in 1961. Robbie met her husband, Henry, in 1962; they were married in North Vancouver on November 21st, 1964. She proudly spent 34 years working as a legal secretary in various law firms around Alberta, earning new jobs in each of the towns in which Henry was posted as a valued RCMP member. Robbie’s devotion to her children and grandchildren defined the core of her existence, shaping her into a loving matriarch whose world revolved around family. She spent countless hours creating and sewing Halloween costumes and making homemade cookies for last-minute bake sales for her children. To then hand sewing miniature drapes and bedding for tiny dollhouses that she and Henry created for each granddaughter. There wasn’t an event she didn’t attend or an occasion she didn’t have a card for. She came along for every invitation she received and loved every drive, even if it was just for a quick errand. She loved to garden; her knowledge and expertise in selecting the perfect combinations of annuals and colours testified to her artistic flair. In 2019, she and Henry won an award for their stunning floral display. That same year, they were chosen to host the Communities in Bloom annual gathering. Even in the humbler setting of her condo after Henry’s passing, she skillfully transformed her front and back patios into vibrant havens adorned with beautifully arranged flower planters. Her culinary talents were nothing short of extraordinary, as she not only mastered the art of cooking but also revelled in the creation of her own recipes. Eager to pass down her culinary legacy, she became a mentor, imparting her cooking skills with boundless enthusiasm. As an exceptional baker, she delighted in holiday and special occasion masterpieces that left everyone in awe. In every conversation, Robbie’s class and grace were unmistakable, yet she was never one to shy away from expressing her strong opinions with conviction. Her words carried weight, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to engage in dialogue with her. Beyond her elegance and opinions, Robbie was a loyal friend, a steadfast companion whose presence brought comfort and joy to those around her. Her commitment to looking her best, no matter the occasion, showcased her unwavering pride and sense of self. An excellent conversationalist, she effortlessly drew people into engaging discussions, leaving a lasting impression on all fortunate enough to share in her company. Robbie’s legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her devoted children: Cameron Chapple, Darcey (Duane) Kubinchak, Carrie (Dave) White, and Rodney (Lacy) Chapple. The warmth of her presence continues through her cherished grandchildren: Chloe and Megan Chapple, Josh, Sydney and Cole Kubinchak, Aleigha and Cohen White, Grayson and Blakely Chapple. Robbie is also survived by her loving sister, Barbara (Ron) Crabtree, a cherished aunt, Evelyn Macklem, brother-in-law Jim (Chris) Chapple, sister-in-law Doreen (Jerry) Netolicky, sister-in-law Sandra Chapple and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
