Landin – Sally Delores Landin of Brooks passed away in Brooks on Thursday, December 22nd, 2016 at the age of 75 years. Sally was born on August 10th, 1941 to Albin and Ella Landin and grew up on the family farm near Davidson, Saskatchewan. Sally worked in radio for a number of years, most notably at CKKR in Rosetown, Saskatchewan and CKBR in Brooks. She also obtained her teaching degree at the University of Saskatchewan in the early 1960s and taught elementary and high school in Saskatchewan, as well as adult business education classes in Saskatchewan and Alberta. She also worked with Tom Musgrove, MLA, in Brooks, as well as at Kay, Kay and Riggins, CIBC and South Slope Feeders. In the 1980s Sally, along with a business partner, opened a business in downtown Brooks called The Store. Sally started her own bookkeeping business, SLHL, in 1998, and worked at that until falling ill in 2014. In Sally’s younger years, she lived and worked in California, Dawson Creek, Red Deer, Calgary, Prince Albert, and Saskatoon. She moved to Rosetown, Saskatchewan in 1966, where she had four children. The family moved to Brooks, Alberta in 1980, where Sally has resided ever since. Sally loved spending time with her family and friends and always enjoyed going out for lunch or supper for a good meal and good conversation. She loved her trips to Las Vegas, playing Bingo in Medicine Hat, and most recently, crib playing nights with her friends at Sunrise Gardens. She had a special place in her heart for all of the cats she has had over the years, Tommy, Weezie, and Mysti, and also loved her son’s dog, Louie. Sally was accomplished at crocheting, knitting, and cross stitch, in which many of us were the lucky recipients of her handiwork. She enjoyed politics and was involved with the PC parties in Saskatchewan and Alberta, as well as with the Wild Rose party in Alberta over the years. She is predeceased by her parents, Albin and Ella Landin, and her brothers, Sandy and Dave Landin. Sally is survived by her children, Deanna Pigeau, Coral Edington, Brent Edington and his wife Leesa, and Troy Edington and his wife Holly, as well as her grandchildren, Courtney and Sam Pigeau, Sarah and Will Edington, and Christian and Emma Edington. In memory of Sally, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Brooks and District Health Foundation, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B3 or Ronald McDonald House of Southern Alberta, 111 West Campus Place NW, CALGARY, Alberta T3B 2R6. The family would like to thank the Sunrise Gardens staff, the Brooks and Medicine Hat Hospitals, as well as Sally’s friends for their care and support over the last two years.
