La Rochelle – Jean La Rochelle (Roth) of Duchess passed away in the Brooks Health Centre on November 4th, 2005 at the age of 89 years. Born in Calgary on January 11th, 1916 she had lived in southern Alberta for most of her life. Jean will be remembered for her compassion for other people, for always being there for her family, for her many beautiful flower gardens, for her musical talents and for her knitted baby shawls done for members of the community as well as her family. She was predeceased by two sons Albert and Bill La Rochelle, grandson Alex La Rochelle, great grandson Charles Sadlier, three sisters and a brother. Jean is survived by her loving family – 5 children Paulette (Larry) Bannick, Linda La Rochelle (Ken Wilson), Faye (Fernando) Dyck, Harvey (Carolyn) La Rochelle and Barbara (Bill) Retzlaff; 26 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren; 1 great great grand daughter Kyra Marie Bannick; daughter-in-law Edith La Rochelle; 2 sisters Barbara Zack and Helen Brown and their families. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, November 10th from the Duchess Mennonite Church. Pastor Alvin Penner officiating. Pallbearers are grandsons Tim La Rochelle, Barry Dyck, Wil La Rochelle, Delwin Retzlaff, Jeremy Kasdorf and great grandson Dean Bannick. Interment to follow at Bassano Cemetery.
