Mr. Reinhold Kanewischer of Brooks, formerly of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Esther Kanewischer passed away on Thursday, September 16th, 2004 at the age of 91 years. Reinhold leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Arnold (Donna) Kanewischer of Shelby, Montana and Ellard (Karin) Kanewischer of Brooks; six grandchildren, Jill Kanewischer, Amy Kanewischer, Jeffrey Kanewischer, Karla (Glen) Butgereit, Kevin (Rhonda) Kanewischer and Matthew Straub; one brother, Edwin (Alice) Kanewischer of Medicine Hat; and one sister, Bertha Jacober of Medicine Hat; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Reinhold was predeceased by his wife, Esther on March 31st, 2004; his parents, Benjamin and Amelia Kanewischer; and two brothers, Bill Kanewischer and Otto Kanewischer. Reinhold was born on June 16th, 1913 at Medicine Hat. He was raised in the Hilda Schuler area where he attended school and later worked on the family farm. On October 20th, 1935, Reinhold married the former Esther Heitzman at Hilda. Together they farmed until 1976 when they retired and moved to Medicine Hat. Besides his love for farming; as a young man Reinhold enjoyed playing baseball which he continued to enjoy by watching the games in his later years. He also loved fishing, most especially the good fish fry that followed, playing crib and going to garage sales. Reinhold will be missed by his family and many friends. The Funeral Service was held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, on Tuesday, September 21st, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Mal Wagner, officiating. A Private Family Interment followed in the Family Plot at Hillside Cemetery.
