    Walpole – It is with deeply saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our father, grandpa and friend, Walter William Walpole Sr. (Wally) who passed away in Brooks on Tuesday, November 10th, 2015 at the age of 81 years. His friendliness and selflessness left him with many special connections and was loved by all. Wally will remain in our hearts forever. He was predeceased by his son Randy. Wally is survived by his 5 children, Wally Jr. of Lethbridge, Craig and his wife Kelly of Brooks, daughter-in-law Cindy Walpole of Red Deer, Diana Ryan and her husband Bill of Winnipeg and Lori Becker and her husband Darrel of Calgary; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and numerous other family members. He was born on the family homestead in Dufresne, Manitoba on June 30th, 1934. In 1947, Wally moved to Calgary and started his trucking career with Gossett Transport, hauling to Toronto and Montreal. He later moved to Winnipeg and worked for Dalewood Transport, hauling to Hamilton from 1958 – 1960. Wally continued his career in Calgary in 1960, working for Miller and Brown as Shop Foreman for 5 years. He became a salesman in 1965 for Alberta White Truck and in 1970 he moved to S & M Kenworth as the Used Truck Manager and later became Branch Manager in 1977. In 1982, he bought Sweet Pea (his rig) and hauled produce and meat to California for the next 3 years. While the trucking industry remained a large part of his life with Brookside Transport and Robyn’s Transport, in 1985 Wally started Walpole’s Lawn and Garden Service in the Brooks area. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 20th at 10:00 AM from the Brooks United Church. Rev. George Edmonds officiating. In memory of Walter, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Brooks Animal Protection Society, Box 86, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B2 or Brooks and District Health Foundation, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B3.
