It has been a year without you my son. It is amazing how a year can go by and it all feels like yesterday.
Valin, Gary Curtis – Born March 12, 1987 in Kamloops BC and left this world March 21, 2023. 36 years was not near enough time. Because of his radiant and joyful way of life every person that was lucky enough to spend time with Gary was guaranteed to walk away with a smile and feeling genuinely loved. Gary talked and argued far right political views, but he lived his life like a political left socialist, always taking the time to help others. Gary always acted tuff, but he always put himself second to others and was respected and invited into every ethnic group he encountered.
With broken hearts we all grieve but especially Gary’s teenage daughter Luna. Gary’s mother Carmen found the strength to take care of all the arrangements concerning Gary’s passing and Gary’s father Brent could not possibly be more proud and thankful for Carmen’s endless courage while she was also dealing with the horrible grief of the loss of their first born child.
Gary’s parents went their separate ways but before that they blessed Gary with a brother named James. Gary’s mother and father went on to have other relationships and other children. Gary always placed his brothers and sisters into one big family. No such thing as step brother or step sister, just brother and sister with endless love for each one of them.
Before a list of Gary’s closest family members, a very big and loving hug has to go to Gary’s Aunti Lori. She is the center of our family structure and the person everyone leans on.
Gary’s friends and family meant the world to him and to numerous to mention all. He is now with those beloved family and friends gone before him. Survived by his father Brent Valin, mother Carmen Chatterly, his dearly loved daughter Luna Valin and his siblings James Valin, Kim Tagg, Emily Valin, Jason Valin, Victor Valin, Adain Valin, Alexandra Valin and Rebecca Valin. His grandmother Bonnie Ryde and great uncle Jim Valin and many more uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who will miss Gary’s kind and gentle nature.

    But I say unto you,
    Love your enemies,
    Bless them that hate you
And pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you.
    – Matthew 5:44 King James

It doesn’t matter how much it hurts
    The sun will always shine
It doesn’t matter how much it hurts
The flowers will always bloom and be beautiful
It doesn’t matter how much it hurts
There will always be new life with everlasting joy and happiness
It doesn’t matter how much it hurts
There will be future days with happy memories
I just don’t see those days yet
I can’t imagine a day without the pain
I love you Gary and miss
    you every day.
