Toufexopoulos – Stephen Toufexopoulos of Strathmore, AB., formerly of Brooks, passed away in Strathmore, AB on May 12, 2023 at the age of 79 years. Steve was born in Constanta, Romania on June 3, 1943 and immigrated to Canada as a twelve year old with his family. Steve settled in London, Ontario where he met his wife Eve. Together they owned and operated several small businesses including a restaurant, service station and Yellow Cabs. The family migrated west to Brooks, Alberta in 1980, where Steve went to work in the oil patch in field operations. Steve spent the remainder of his working career in the patch, operating oil and gas facilities, supervising operations and later consulting on construction projects. After Eve passed away in 2001, Steve met and married his current wife, Barb. They resided on the Sunshine Coast in B.C. for a few years prior to his return to Alberta. Steve will be remembered for his sense of humour and his love of cooking for his family and friends. His cabbage rolls and Greek ribs were something you didn’t soon forget. Perhaps his biggest passion in life was riding motorcycles and it was that shared love of riding that created some of his many enduring friendships. Steve was predeceased by his wife Eve in 2001 and his son Tom in 1988, as well as his brother Jimmy in 2017. He is survived by his wife Barb, daughters, Jocelyn Osachuk (Pat) and Jennifer Bunn (Greg) and son Tim Smith (Elaine). Steve also is survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. There will be a small family graveside ceremony on Friday, June 2 at 11:30, where Steve will be interred at the Brooks Cemetery, followed by an informal lunch/refreshments at the Heritage Inn at 1:00 p.m.
