    George Timko

    March 29, 1928 – September 30, 2007

    George Timko of Brooks passed away peacefully on September 30, 2007. He will be greatly missed by Mona, his wife, and his children Dorothy (Rob), David (Denise), Mona Faye, Michelle (Ron), and Patrick and his grandchildren, Katrina, Caroline, Jocelyn, Deanna, Louisa, Fred, Vivian, Anneliese, and Harrison. He will be also be missed by his sisters, Mary and Margaret, and his brothers, Joe and Martin, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Andro and Maria Timko, and brother John and sister Annie.
    George was born near Hedley, B.C. and grew up in Tilley, Alberta. He taught for 37 years for the County of Newell. He also served as a school trustee for the Brooks School District for three terms. As an educator, George was a positive influence in many young people’s lives. George believed in serving his community and was involved in many community projects and organizations. In his later years George realized a life long dream of owning his own farm. For many years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and throughout his life he was an avid curler. A special thank you to the staff at Brooks Long Term Care Centre who cared for George for the past few months. Prayers will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 5 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brooks, Alberta. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 6, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
