Smith – Esther Isobele Smith, widow of her beloved husband Dale Smith, passed away in Brooks on March 6th, 2024 at the age of 98 years. Born in Provost, Alberta to Isobel and Robert Winters on April 12, 1925 she was raised in Provost. She moved to Hamilton, Ontario where she and Dale were married on October 31st, 1944. Esther worked as her husband completed his Funeral Directors Licence in 1947. They moved to Calgary and in 1951 to Brooks where she had resided since. Dale and Esther operated Smith Funeral Home until their retirement. Esther was an active member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church and later the Brooks E Free Church, the Royal Purple and the Kinettes for many years. She will be lovingly remembered for her love for her family, for her wit, her sense of humour and her love of travelling. Esther was predeceased by Dale on April 1st, 2022, and two daughters Linda and Sharon. She is survived by her loving daughters Donna and Carol, her son Ron and their families. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 14th at 2:00 PM from the Evangelical Free Church, Brooks. Pastor Garth Everett officiating. Interment will follow at the Brooks Cemetery.
