Shiyak – Anne Shiyak of Brooks, passed away peacefully in Brooks on December 1st, 2004 at the age of 92 years. Born in Glenella, Manitoba on April 29th, 1912 Anne received her education in the area. She married John Shiyak on February 18th, 1930 in Glenhope, Manitoba and lived in a variety of communities before settling in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba in 1947. Anne worked for the Manitoba Development Centre until 1977. She moved to Brooks in 1992 to Villa #2 and later resided in the Newbrook Lodge where she had resided since. Anne loved her family, traveling and hand crafts. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother. Anne was predeceased by her husband John in 1967, a brother and 2 sisters. She is survived by her loving family, 5 children, Elsie Copeland of Vancouver; Dan of Brooks; Ron of Brooks; Murray and his wife Ella of Red Deer and Louise Bergen and her husband Keith of Medicine Hat; numerous grandchildren; brother; 2 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 4th from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. Father Vincent Tuan Ha officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Mom’s family.
