    Shepherd – Howard Norman Shepherd of Brooks passed away in Brooks on January 6th, 2005 at the age of 82 years. Born in Winnifried, Alberta on March 7th, 1922 Howard received his education in Bow Island. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 17 and served overseas as a Motorcycle Messenger and Artillery Gunner. Howard married Kathleen Dunstan in 1942 in Sussex, England and returned to Bow Island in 1945. He lived in a variety of communities in Alberta and overseas before retiring to Sundre in 1985 where he married Edna White. Howard moved to Brooks in 2004 and had resided here since. He loved his family, traveling, camping, fishing, playing crib, carpentry and life. Howard will be remembered for his easy going nature, for his sense of humour and for his patience. He was predeceased by a son Wayne, second wife Edna, brother Don, sister Dorothy and parents Harold and Ruth. Howard is survived by his loving family, his first wife Kathleen of Brooks; 6 children Pat (Lori) of Brooks, Sandra (Joe) Meyer of Brooks, Sharon (Wayne) Lock of Grand Prairie, Terry (Brenda) of Brooks, Donna of Kelowna and Lynn of Calgary; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother Calvin (Penny) Shepherd of Kelowna; sister Judy (Henry) Neitz of Medicine Hat; step-daughter Val (Pete) Lamboo of Calgary and their children Nichol and Dave and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 13th from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. John Theiss of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Howard’s grandchildren, Tammy, Kenny, Shane, Larry, Pam, Wanda, Joey, Cody, Shanda, Tracy and Lanny.
