    Shannon – It is with such deep sorrow and heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin, Jim Shannon, who passed away in Brooks on Saturday, March 31, 2018.  Jim was born in Bassano on November 5, 1944 was raised and worked in Brooks most of his life.  He married his wife Pat, the love of his life, on March 27, 1965 in Brooks.  Jim apprenticed at Tunney’s Autobody and achieved his journeymen’s certification as an Autobody Technician. He worked in Brooks and Calgary and in 1977 opened Acadia Autobody, which he owned and operated for 20 years.  He enjoyed his craft, but due to health challenges retired in 2001.  Jim lived life to the fullest and was an avid outdoorsman at heart taking every opportunity to hunt, fish and golf.  He met his disability with a great sense of humour, never complaining and always had a smile for everyone.  He enjoyed a joke and his upbeat, outgoing and lighthearted nature made it a joy to be around him.  His love of his family was inspirational to all who knew him.  Jim was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Maida Shannon, brother Maurice and other family members.  Left to love and remember Jim is his wife of 53 year, Pat; daughters Nadine (Trevor) Shannon, and Marcie Shannon; two grandchildren, Sean Erickson and Avery Erickson; brother Rick and his wife Lucie; sisters Sharon Pierce and Cindy Shannon as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 1:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church.  Rev John Theiss officiating.  Interment at Smith Funeral Home Columbarium, Brooks Cemetery.  Honorary Pallbearers are all of Jim’s family and friends.  In memory of Jim, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of choice.

    Cremation is entrusted to Smith Funeral Home Ltd. and Crematorium, Brooks.
