The family is saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our Father, Grandpa,
Great-grandpa, Uncle, Brother and Friend – Bernard, at the High River Hospital, at the
age of 83, on July 24th, 2009. Bernard was born, raised and farmed with his father and
brothers in the West Duchess area until his retirement to the Clancy area. He moved
to Duchess for a short time until his final move to High River. During his life Bernard
was a farmer, realtor, County Counsellor and active community volunteer. He was
known for his great sense of humour, love of children and animals; and for
delivering a dose of reality to anyone he felt needed it.

Bernard was predeceased by his first wife, Anne in 1992, (mother of Tannis, Judy and Bill) and his second wife, Maureen in 2005 (mother of Nicky). Bernard is survived by two daughters: Tannis (Ronald) and Judy (Brian) and son Bill (Gina); grandchildren: Linda (Tony), Kimberly, Bill (Ramona), Christi, Brett, Evan, Bailey, Bryn, Tristan, Lindsay, Samantha, Catherine, Hayden, Cody, Cooper, Kyle, Amy and great-grandchildren: Nathan, Sean, Lux and Ava. He is also survived by his sister Edna (Lester) and brother Wilf (Margaret), sister-in-laws Joyce (Clem), Dorothy (Wilf), Willa and brother-in-law Bill (Hilda) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A heartfelt thank you is given to the many special friends, for their uncompromising friendship to Bernard and his family during his life and his illness. Grant, John, Lynn, Doug, George and Jackie – thank you for your wonderful friendship to our Dad and ourselves. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, health professionals and volunteers of High River for the gentle care given to our father. In respect with Bernard’s wishes, there will be an informal gathering to celebrate Bernard’s love of life, on Sunday, August 23, 2009, at the home of Judy and Brian (723 – 5th Ave SW, High River), from 2 pm to 5 pm. Bring along a written story or one of his jokes for a book about his life.
