    ROTH – Darlene Joan Roth, beloved wife of the late Melvin F. Roth, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the age of 67 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Debbie Steidel and Diane Steidel; two brothers, Donald Turner of Elkpoint and Kenneth Turner of Medicine Hat; one sister, Lynne (Ted) Piraux of Calgary; one brother-in-law, Clarence (Marlene) Roth; five sisters-in-law, Debby Turner, Marie (Norman) Roth, Violet Tschritter; Rachel Wirsch, and Jane (Ralph) Grubel; lifelong friends, René and Johnny Suhai as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Terry Steidel on November 21, 1973 and her second husband, Melvin Fred Roth on April 2, 2012; her parents, Fred and Jemima Turner; Melvin’s parents, Henry and Olinda Roth; two brothers, Allen and Ronald Turner; two brothers-in-law, Roy Wirsch and Edmund Tschritter; one sister-in-law, Kathy Turner; one niece, Sherri Roth and two nephews, Justin Roth and Eugene Tschritter. Darlene was born in Brooks on July 4, 1948 to parents, Fred and Jemima Turner, where she was raised and graduated from Brooks Composite High School in June of 1966. Darlene moved to Calgary to work in a restaurant, where she met and married Terry Steidel in 1966. Debbie was born in 1967 then the family moved to Nanton, then Canmore and in 1970 to Pincher Creek. In 1971, Diane was born. Darlene was a stay at home “mum”. After Terry’s passing, Darlene moved back to Brooks. There she met Melvin Roth and they were married on January 10, 1976. They bought a house in Medicine Hat where they lived for 39 years. Darlene loved gardening, baking, crocheting, going to rodeo’s and chuckwagon’s and camping withMelvin, Henry and Eileen Stoesz and their co-workers from Wahl Builders. The family had several cats, Ladycat, Tiger, Fred and Sylvester. In the summer of 2011, they found a black and white kitten in the backyard, they named her “Socks”. Socks was mums companion. For 10 months, Darlene fought a hard battle against cancer. Thank you to the staff at St. Joseph’s Home, Medicine Hat Regional Hospital 6 West and EMS. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 12:55 p.m The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend.
