    Redelback – Fred Redelback passed away in Brooks on October 26th, 2004 at the age of 86 years. Fred was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on September 14th, 1918 and grew up in the area. As a young man, Fred rode the rails from job to job and ended up in Brooks where he met Helen Hiebert. They were married in Medicine Hat on March 10th, 1944. Fred drove truck and did commercial fishing before he and Helen purchased the Hiway Motel. They operated that until retiring to town in 1979. He continued to commercial fish while his health permitted. Fred was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks, the Royal Canadian Legion – EID Branch and the Brooks Elks. He had a great love of baseball; Fred had co sponsored the Brooks Hotel Hiwaymen, and his favorite professional team was the Toronto Blue Jays. He enjoyed bingo, bowling and tinkering in his garage. Fred will be fondly remembered for his love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved to tell stories and will be remembered for his sense of humour and as a man that always shot from the hip. He was predeceased by his loving wife Helen on May 15th, 2001, his parents, his brothers John, Chris, Rueben and Bob. He is survived by his loving family, children daughter Dianne MacKinnon and her husband Wayne of Brooks and their family Melanie (Deryk), Shawn (Sherrie) Greg and Dawn; son Gary Redelback and his wife Linda of Brooks and their sons Scott (Florence) and Jason and daughter Sandy Meador and her husband Jim of Brooks and their children Tammy (Chris) and Daryl (Angel); 13 great grandchildren; sister Rachel Schorr of Medicine Hat; brothers Art of Sylvan Lake, Cliff and his wife Audrey of Brooks and Frank of Okotoks and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 2nd from Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks. Rev. David Glawe officiating. Pallbearers are Shawn Schuh, Greg Schuh, Scott Redelback, Jason Redelback, Daryl Meador, Deryk Dillman and Chris Cameron.
