James – Pamela Vaughn James, beloved wife of the late Desmond James, passed away peacefully at Sun-rise Gardens, Brooks the day after her 93rd birthday on Saturday, January 20th, 2024. Pam is survived by her children, daughter Patricia Snyders (John) and her children Kyle Snyders and Donna Heal (Peter); son Brad James (Linda) and their children Justin Stroh (Jenn) and Megan Julian (NIck); daughter Maureen Kordich (Rob) and their children Dana Guelber (Igor), Erin Kordich and Evan Kor-dich and son Kevin James; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Sophie, Arlo, Lillian, Simon, Emily, Owen, Avery and Hannah and sisters-in-law Audrey Martens, Kay James and Faye Ward. Pam was born on January 19th, 1931 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta to Lewis and Nellie Pearson. Her early childhood was spent in Rocky Mountain House and Red Deer. During the war years, while her father was overseas, she lived in Tilley, with her Uncle Nels and Aunt Leah Anderson, along with her sister Patsy and cousins Ian, Peter, Donald, Leigh, Robin and Connie. Upon returning from the war, her father moved to Brooks and opened Pearson Jewelry. Mom continued to live in Tilley and commuted back and forth from the dormitory in Brooks, where she completed high school. While working one weekend for her father, she saw a young man, who she always described as having “hair too long and pants too short”. This young man would be-come her future husband, Des. She then went to Calgary to complete her teaching degree. After receiving her diploma, she taught grades one to six in a one room school in Clancy. The next 69 years were spent married to Des, living in Brooks, and raising their four children. She will be fondly remembered for her love of drawing, painting, poetry and literature. Feeding the bluejays during the winter months was one of her favorite past times. She was well known for her butter tarts, lemon meringue pie and chocolate chip cook-ies. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her utmost pride and joy. She will be dearly missed by us all. The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Coetzee and Janet, Cindy Young, the staff at Sunrise Gardens, and Kelly at Smith Funeral Home. As per mom’s wishes there will not be a funeral, but a family gathering at a later date.
