Charlton – It is with heavy hearts that we share that Beatrice Lorraine Charlton (nee Brosteaux) passed away peacefully in Brooks, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, December 11th, 2019, at the age of 76 years.  Bea was born on May 13th, 1943, in Vancouver, BC and lived there as a toddler until the Brosteaux family moved to Calgary. Bea grew up there, while attending the St. James and St. Mary’s Catholic Schools.  She married Johnny Charlton in February of 1964 and moved to Brooks, where she raised her family and worked alongside Johnny in the auction business and at Charlton’s Auction Mart for many years.  Her knack for balancing numbers led her to bookkeeping at Aces Lounge and then at the Brooks Hotel, until her recent hospitalization. Mom loved golfing; as some of her best laughs were shared on the golf course with family and friends.  She had a smile that could light up a room and will be remembered for her kind, quiet demeanor by those that were fortunate enough to have known her.  Bea will be lovingly missed by her daughters Deb (Greg), Carrie (Darrel), and Shelley; son, Jeff (Marcia); her grandchildren, Keiran Hodges (Taryn), Cody and Taylor Lassiter, Mia and Bria Charlton; her great grandson, Karter Hodges; her sister, Delores Kostrosky; several nieces and nephews; her best friend, Marlene Bowen; as well as many other close friends.  Beatrice and her family would like to send a sincere thank you to all of the doctors and nurses at the Brooks Hospital.  A special thank you goes to Amilynn Harvie and Karrie Brown for their extraordinary kindness and special care during mom’s stay there.  As well, the family would like to acknowledge Marlene Bowen, for the time she shared with mom during the past months and at the hospital laughing, crying, and just sitting beside her to keep her company.  This true friendship will always bring heartwarming memories.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cassils Community Hall on Friday, December 20th, 2019 at 3:00 PM. In memory of Bea, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to Prairie Rose Hospice Palliative Care Society, 24 Coultis Court, Brooks, Alberta   T1R 0J8.
