Wirove – Joseph Wirove, beloved husband of Irene Wirove of Brooks passed away in Brooks on March 12th, 2009 at the age of 87 years. Born in Hungary on August 18th, 1921, Joe received his education in Brooks and Tilley. He worked as a hired hand on several local farms, before working on the construction of the Trans Canada Highway, strip mining and Water Supervisor for the EID, while farming in the south Tilley area.
Joe married Irene Gernat on November 18th, 1945 in Fort Williams, Ontario (Thunder Bay) and resided in Tilley. They retired to Brooks in 1995 where they have resided since. Joe will be remembered for his honesty and for being true to his word. He loved his family and tinkering around the shop fixing anything he could. Joe was predeceased by a son Robert, parents, 2 sisters, brother and 3 brothers-in-law. He is survived by his loving family, wife Irene of Brooks; son Joe and his wife Cynthia of Red Deer; daughter Patricia Wiebe and her husband Norman of Dawson Creek, BC; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister Magdeline Varga of Brooks and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at 2:00 PM from Smith Memorial Chapel. Pastor Yvonne Terry officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
