Wist – Marjorie Anne Wist, beloved husband of Bob Wist of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on Thursday, June 14th, 2007. Marjorie was born on October 17th, 1947 in Medicine Hat, graduating from McCoy High School. She and Bob were married on January 28th, 1967 from Christ the King Church in Medicine Hat. They resided in Leader Saskatchewan until coming to the Brooks area in 1969 and to the City of Brooks in 1988.
Marj was employed as Marriage Commissioner from 1990 until January of 2007. She had sung in the St. Mary’s Choir, volunteered with many different organizations, loved her friends, playing cards, golfing and karaoke. She had been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion – EID Branch and the Ladies Auxiliary. Marj will be lovingly remembered for her outgoing, friendly and fun loving attitude. She would light up a room wherever she went. Marj was predeceased by her parents Helmer and Grace Sletvold and brother Dale. She is survived by her loving family, husband Bob; children Sheldon and Chantelle Wist; granddaughter Jazmyne Rose; brothers Glen and Gary Sletvold, sister Gloria Liboiron and numerous other family members. Prayer Service was conducted at 7:00 PM from St. Mary’s catholic Church, Brooks with Deacon Robert N. J. Wilson officiating. A celebration of Marjorie’s life was held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 16th from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brooks. Funeral Mass Celebrant Rev. Avinash Colaco. Pallbearers were Clarence Wist, Irwin Sisonenko, Chris Rowan and Arno Keller. Inurnment will follow at a later date.
