Wallace – Will Wallace of Gem passed away in Brooks on April 30th, 2008 at the age of 89 years. Will and his twin brother Neil were born in Galarneauville, Alberta on December 16th, 1918. His family moved to the Gem area in the 1930’s. Will served with the Canadian Armed Forces from 1942 – 1946 serving on many front lines through out Europe. He married Margurite Church in Calgary on October 30th, 1951 and together they farmed in Gem. Will will be remembered for his sense of humour, spontaneity, his positive attitude and his laugh. He loved his family, dancing, animals and the cowboy life. Will was predeceased by his wife Margurite on July 3rd, 2003, 2 brothers Neil and Taylor “Tart” and a sister Jean. He is survived by his loving family, daughter Diane Wallace and her husband Gary Chomin of Vancouver and their children James and Natalie; son Ron and his wife Lorill of Gem and their children Alisen and Wade; daughter Colleen Wallace and her husband Harold Slater of Okotoks; 3 sisters Elizabeth “Betty” McKenzie of Hanna, Nan (Bob) Marsh of Ladysmith, BC and Ann (Derald) Willow of Edmonton; special friend Mae Crawshaw and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 7th at 2:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks. Rev. John Theiss officiatied. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Will’s family.
