It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of Donald John Tchida Senior, of Lake Newell Resort, Brooks at the Brooks Health Centre on September 9th, 2014 at the age of 77 years. Don was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan on August 27th, 1937, later moving to Edmonton and then Calgary. After a 35-year career with TransAlta Utilities, he enjoyed his retirement years between Mesa, Arizona and Lake Newell Resort sharing his passions for fishing, traveling, gardening, wood-carving, drawing, wine-making and cribbage. Don will be remembered for his wisdom, strong work ethic, kindness, generosity and his natural ease of laughter – he leaves a legacy of an abundance of smiles. Don was a man defined by love of family, integrity, kindness, a relentless sense of humor and a passion to explore. He was a beloved spouse, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Don is survived by his soul mate and wife Marilyn Turner Tchida of 16 years; his three children Pamela Tchida Kupidy (Ron), Timothy Tchida (Michelle) and Don Tchida Junior (Ginger); their mother Maryrose Tchida; two stepchildren Nancy Turner and Ken Turner (Carolee); six grandchildren Jayda, Riley, Jake, Dominic, Nathan and Ayden; seven brothers and sisters, Agnes Mackay, Gloria (Ted) Gizofki, Earl (Joan) Tchida, Elaine Tchida, Pat Tchida, Allen (Sharon) Tchida, and Donna (Roland) Tchida, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Deepest gratitude is extended to his wife Marilyn for giving him tender care and love during his final years, as well as the Brooks Health Center for their kindness and care during his final hours. A Celebration of Life was held on Sunday, September 14th at 1:00 PM from Smith Memorial Chapel. Mr. Tim Tchida officiating.
