Snyders – Gerdina (Gerda) Johanna Snyders (Nee) Koops of Brooks, passed away peacefully at the Sunrise Gardens, Brooks on Sunday, August 31st, 2014 at the age of 92 years. Born on May 11th, 1922 in Kampen, The Netherlands, she came to Canada in 1950 with her husband and three sons, with two more sons born in Canada. They started their life in Rainier then settled in Brooks. Gerda was a devoted Mother and Oma. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gerda was pre-deceased by her son John junior; husband, Jan of 64 years; twelve sisters and two brothers. She is survived by four sons, Gerrit (Rhyl) of Perth Australia, Julius (Marie) of Brooks, Albert (Pat) of Brooks, and Ben (Susan) of Victoria BC; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and numerous family members in The Netherlands. A sincere thanks to Dr. Coetzee and the staff at Orchard Manor and Sunrise Gardens for taking such good care of our Mother. Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 4th at 2:00 PM from the Brooks Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Martin Boardman officiated. Interment was held at Brooks Cemetery.
