    Scherger – Joseph Patrick Scherger, beloved husband of Brenda Scherger of Brooks, passed away peacefully with his family by his side in Calgary on April 12th, 2009 at the age of 52 years. Born in Leader, Saskatchewan on June 16th, 1956, Pat received his grade 1-12 education at Lancer and North Battleford, Saskatchewan; his post secondary at Olds College in livestock production. He worked as a meat inspector at Brooks Lakeside Packers for over 25 years and recently as a field rep. for the C.F.I.A.. Pat married Brenda Bunney on Oct. 15th, 1983 and farmed in the Brooks/Duchess area. He was a devout member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and also belonged to the Brooks Fish and Game Association. Pat will be remembered for his sense of conviction, strength in friendship and generosity. He loved his family, friends and the outdoors. Pat was predeceased by his in-laws Wendell and Lois Bunney. He is survived by his loving family, wife Brenda of Brooks; 2 sons Jordan and Jace of Brooks; parents Peter and Betty Scherger of Maple Creek; 4 siblings Angela Grosset (Brian Elle) of Medicine Hat, Tim (Kathy) Scherger of Waldec, Saskatchewan, Ray (Shelly) Scherger of Medicine Hat and Rob (Sandy) Scherger of Maple Creek; God Son Lane Scherger of Lethbridge and God Daughter Sydney Reagan of Brooks; 2 brothers-in-law Wayne (Janice) Bunney of Duchess and Lorne (Mayumi) Bunney of Brooks and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 18th at 2:00 PM from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Avinash Colaco Celebrant. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Pat’s family and friends. Active Pallbearers were Lane Scherger, Kevin Bunney, Ross Scherger, Peter Grosset, Randy Bunney and Juston Hauck. Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery.
