SCHELLENBERG – Abram David Schellenberg went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 7, 2005 at the age of 80. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Rita Schellenberg; Verna (Bruce) Ratzlaff; Joyce (Kendell) Anquist; Brian (Margie) Schellenberg; Rose Schellenberg; and his grandchildren: Wendy (Alex) Lerch; Lori Ratzlaff; Julie (Ray) Porco; Stephen Anquist; Mary Anquist; Daniel Anquist; Jared Schellenberg; Rachel Schellenberg; and his great-grandson: Caleb Lerch. He is also survived by his brother Peter (Hulda) Schellenberg; his sister Eva (Tom) Driedger; his sister-in-law Edna Schellenberg; his brother Arthur (Margaret) Schellenberg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Abe was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1983; his daughter Fern in 1960; his grandson-in-law Grant Batchelor in 1997. Abe was born in Gretna, Manitoba and raised in Saskatchewan. He was married on July 16, 1950 and moved with his bride to Didsbury, Alberta where he worked in construction. The family moved to Calgary, and later to Brooks. Abe was an active member of the Brooks Evangelical Free Church and held several leadership positions. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Abe moved back to Calgary in 1993 to be close to his family. His grandchildren brought him great joy. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Mountain View Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. A Celebration of Abe’s Life will be held at Centre Street Church (3900 – 2 Street NE) on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at 1:30 PM with Dr. Henry Schorr officiating. A reception will follow in the church Atrium.
