    SAYERS, Vernice (nee Ledene)

    Vernice Sayers, beloved wife of Robert Sayers of Calgary, AB passed away peacefully due to Alzheimer’s on Sunday, July14, 2019 at the age of 83 years.

    Vernice was born in Medicine Hat, AB, on May 21, 1936. She grew up on the family farm in Scandia, AB, and moved to Calgary, AB, where she attended secretarial school. Vernice married Robert Sayers, her husband of sixty-four years in St. Catharines, ON. Over the years Vernice enjoyed a variety of employment opportunities. Vernice finished her career after working twenty-eight years for Calgary Police Services where she was supervisor in the Criminal History unit. Since 1996 Vernice lived at her lakeside property at Lake Newell, AB, which she and Robert have owned for forty-five years. She spent many happy hours enjoying outdoor activities with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.

    Besides her loving husband Robert, Vernice is survived by her children and their spouses, Wendy Osborne (Keith) of Lake Country, BC, Patrick Sayers (Debbie) of Calgary, AB, Grant Sayers (Sherry) of Medicine Hat, AB, and Michael Sayers (Debbie) of Calgary, AB; six grandchildren, Kendra Sayers, Megan Chin (Colin), Mitchell Sayers, Sean Sayers, Ryan Sayers, and Haley Sayers; two great-grandchildren, Naomi and Luke Chin. Vernice is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Bev Sloane, Marilyn Jacobson, Dan Ledene, Ben Ledene, and their spouses. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Miranda Chagnon Osborne.

    A Gathering to Celebrate Vernice’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle NW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Coffee tea and snacks will be served
