    RUST – Sophie Rust (Krausher) of Brooks passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughter on February 15th, 2004. She was born in the municipality of Ceylon, SK. on the Krausher homestead on May 16th, 1915. Sophie attended school at Freda, Soda Lake and Radville schools in Saskatchewan. She moved to Millicent in 1935 to work for Della and Osborne Thompson and later was head cook for the crew that built the Cowoki Dam near Tilley. It was there that she met Norman Rust of Millicent and they were married in the United Church in Brooks on December 2nd, 1937. Sophie farmed with her husband in Millicent and was active in her community, participating in the Millicent Thursday Club, The Women of Unifarm, the school, and her church. Norman and Sophie later moved to 6th St. West in Brooks in 1962. Sophie continued her involvement in the church, ladies groups and took pride and interest in her children and grandchildren. She assisted Norman in every way in his business endeavors and was an ongoing source of strength and faith for her family and friends. Sophie left 6th St. and her many neighbours for the New Brook Lodge in the mid nineties, which soon became a new home for her that she greatly enjoyed. Following hospitalization in December 2002, Sophie moved to the Brooks Nursing home this past May. Sophie is survived by her son Barry Rust of Calgary, daughter Lorraine Samis and husband Mike of Duchess, granddaughters Erin and Kari Musgrove, grandson David Rust, step-grandsons Tony George and Terry George (Gail), as well as CJ, Teresa and Tre; sister Dorothy Cyr of Brooks, brother and sister-in-law Adolph and Ariel Krausher of Radville, Sask., sisters-in-law Bertha Krausher of Radville, Sask., and Martha Krausher of Lethbridge, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends Sophie was predeceased by her husband Norman Rust in 1982, parents Jacob and Amelia Krausher, infant sister Olga, and infant brother Jacob, brothers Henry, Herman, John, Oscar and sister Mary, brother-in-law Arnold Cyr, sister-in-law Lydia Krausher, Kenneth and Sylvia Rust of Brooks, Dr.’s Ronald and Velma Rust of Ottawa, and daughter in law Bette Rust. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 19th, 2004 from the Brooks United Church. Rev. George Edmonds officiating.
