Rust – Mrs. Murry Lynn Rust (Powell) went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the age of 73 years. Murry was born on August 8, 1944 in Hanna, Alberta, the daughter of Frank and Mary Powell. She was the oldest of three children in the family. On October 26, 1960 she married the love of her life, Richard Rust also of Hanna. They eventually settled in Brooks, in 1962. During their many years in Brooks, they were involved in several businesses including M&R Dairy Bar. Murry was a loving and dedicated mother to three children while also being involved in the community through the Royal Purple and other social organizations. Murry always had a smile for everyone she met and was known for her gracious attitude and positive outlook. Although Murry had three children, she was considered a surrogate mother and grandmother by many others. She enjoyed playing the piano, curling, golfing and socializing with anyone she met. She was renowned for her ability to make anyone feel welcome and never leave her house hungry! Murry is survived by her husband Richard Rust; children Craig (Susan) Rust of Calgary, Sherraine (Kerry) Crapo of Brooks and Michael (Michelle) Rust of Calgary; as well as 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother John (Irene) Powell of Medicine Hat, sister Karen Kuiper of Brooks, and numerous nieces and nephews. We are saddened by our loss, but we rejoice that she has been made whole in her eternal home. The family appreciates all the care she experienced over the last couple of years while located at Sunrise Gardens. We especially appreciate the love and dedication received from her primary caregiver Joan De Los Santos as well as many others. Her joyous spirit and positive outlook for life was endearing and will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 25th at 11:00 AM from Brooks Evangelical Free Church. Pastor Garth Everett officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
