PFEFFERLE – Olive Edna Pfefferle

    Olive Edna Pfefferle, beloved wife of Tony Pfefferle of Rolling Hills, passed away on January 19th, 2003 in Calgary at the age of 79 years.

    Olive was born in Albany, New York on February 22nd, 1923 to George and Alice Webber. Following the death of Olive’s parents in 1925, she went to live with her mother’s sister, Lottie Lewis, in Nova Scotia.

    After attending grade school, Olive went to work welding at a shipyard where she met Tony Pfefferle, a sailor in the Navy. Olive moved to Toronto to work for Ajax’s Ammunition Factory and later to the Victory Air Craft Factory. She and Tony where married on March 29th, 1948.

    They moved to Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan to farm Tony’s father’s homestead until May of 1957 when they moved to Rolling Hills. They had resided in Rolling Hills since except from November 1965 to 1967 when they and their 4 children lived in New Zealand.

    Once her family grew up, Olive worked outside the home at Tilleybrook Campground for many years. She was an active member with the Altar Society, Rolling Hills Community Club, Senior Citizen Center and the Card Club.

    Olive loved to curl and was a lifetime member of the Rolling Hills Curling Club. She had written for Brooks Bulletin as the Rolling Hills Representative. Olive enjoyed visiting with family, friends and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    She was predeceased by her parents in 1925, an infant daughter Mary in 1950, a grandson David Pfefferle in 1982, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

    Olive is survived by her loving husband Tony; daughter Gwen (Ken) Miller of Rolling Hills and their 4 children Teri (Shawn Dahl), Jason (Rhonda), Keith (Pearl) and Brent (Elaine); daughter Kathy (Bruce) Harty of Medicine Hat and their 3 children Robert (Melanie), Neal (Lisa) and Danny (Christina); son Frank (Gina) Pfefferle of Duchess and their 3 children Kristen, Tyler and Paige; son David Pfefferle of Rolling Hills; 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 24th at the Rolling Hills Community Centre. Rev. Bryan Frank of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brooks, officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Olive’s family and friends.

    Active Pallbearers were Robert Harty, Neal Harty, Danny Harty, Jason Miller, Keith Miller and Brent Miller.
