    Peltzer –

With a heavy heart, Fern Peltzer announces that her beloved friend and husband of 59 years, Alfred Fredrick Robert Peltzer, passed away in Brooks on November 1, 2018 at the age of 83. He is also survived by his daughter Alison (Trent) Ebach of Hepburn, SK. and his son Robert (Nikki) Peltzer of Rosemary, AB.; his siblings Rudy (Jean) Peltzer, Lucy Oberhammer, Anne Arnell; sister-in-law Joan Peltzer; brother-in-law Hoss (Ena) Hammer and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Alfred was predeceased by his parents Rudolph and Elizabeth Peltzer; his younger brother Harold; brothers- in-law Glen Oberhammer and Don Arnell. Alfred was born near Springwater, SK. on August 6, 1935 on the family farm. One year, two months, one day later the family moved to a new home in the Duchess area due to drought and depression. At the age of nine Alfred lost his Dad suddenly. He attended west Duchess school and then Rosemary, he was then further educated at Olds College, where he enrolled in a two-in-one course in Mechanics. After completing his education he worked in Calgary. On the weekends he would be found helping out on the family farm with his Mom and brothers. In the spring of 1957 Alfred met Fern, who was a nurse at the Brooks Hospital. They married on October 17, 1959 and in the following decade they introduced two children into the world–Alison (1963) and Robert (1967). They purchased a farm near the Peltzer family farm, where they raised their children, and potatoes and cows. Alfred was very involved in community, 4H, local committees and various governing bodies, including the Potato Commission Board, the Ag Society, the Newell County Council, the Hospital Board and the Duchess Lutheran Church Council. Alfred continued his lifelong passion of farming until 2000, when health issues forced him off of the homestead. Alfred’s time away from the farm saw him focused on his 6 grandchildren: Cayley, Jaxson and Jordan Peltzer and Denae, Coralee and Lorne Ebach. Alfred was a generous man who always had time to sit down and listen. These attributes led to his continued involvement in Rosemary and surrounding communities consistently choosing to put others before himself. Alfred’s lifelong achievements would not have been successful without his devoted wife Fern who was always along for the ride (in a Ford of course). The Family would like to thank everyone who stood by him no matter what he had to endure. A viewing will be available at 7:00 PM on Friday November 9, 2018 from Smith Memorial Chapel, 204 3 Ave West, Brooks. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church, 811 Cassils Rd. West, Brooks. Rev Andy Kahle officiating. Interment to follow at Duchess Cemetery. In memory of Alfred, if friends so desire, donations may be made to either Duchess Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Box 217 Duchess, AB.   T0J 0Z0 or to the Rosemary AG Society, General Delivery, Rosemary, AB.   T0J 2W0.
