Jackson – It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Marilyn Lee (Woodward) Jackson announce her passing in Calgary, Alberta on Friday, November 2nd, 2018 at the age of 77 years. Marilyn was born in Swan River, Manitoba on September 24th, 1941 to Ruby and Percy Woodward.  Marilyn was married to Lee, her high school sweetheart, and the love and rock of her life on May 23, 1960 in Swan River.  They remained happily married for over 54 years until Lee’s passing in 2014.  They lived in various parts of Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, before settling in Brooks, Alberta in 1980.  Brooks became Marilyn and Lee’s home and they both poured their heart and souls into the community through various charitable and non-profit organizations. Marilyn was an instrumental part of growing the Newell Concert Series as well as a founding member of the Brooks Toy Lending Library as well as Communities in Bloom.  Marilyn’s contribution to the community was so great that she was awarded Citizen of the Year from the Brooks Chamber of Commerce in 2013.  She was also an accomplished piano player, using her talent to lead the choir at the United Church, play the organ and piano for services, and contributing to the worship committee there for many years.  She taught piano in her home to many students, young and old.  She also spent many years helping Lee with his business, running the office, doing bookkeeping and various other administrative tasks.  Even with all of this, Marilyn’s devotion to her family came first.  Marilyn wanted nothing more than to spend her life with Lee, her children and their families.  After raising their own family, they spent many years supporting their grandchildren, watching and encouraging them as they played hockey, danced, graduated and participated in many other activities.  Marilyn will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Christy, Carly, Kelsey, Kyra, Matthew, Justus, Emily, and Liam as well as Christy’s husband Rob and their son Jackson.  She will also be greatly missed by her children Blaine, Ardith, Sean and Todd as well as Blaine’s wife, Wendy, Ardith’s husband, Gordon, Sean’s wife, Diana, Todd’s wife, Irena and by Marilyn’s older brother Fred and his wife, Shirley.  Marilyn was predeceased by her father Frederick Percy Woodward (1964), her mother Ruby Iola Jean Woodward (1988) and her brother Edward Percy (Ted) Woodward (1976).  Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 12th at 2:00 PM from the Brooks United Church. Rev. Esther Crews officiating. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.  In memory of Marilyn, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to the either, the Brooks United Church Memorial Fund, 507 – 3rd Avenue West, Brooks, Alberta   T1R 0B2 or Brooks Communities in Bloom, Box 252, Brooks, Alberta   T1R 1B4.
