Green – It is with acute sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Peter (Pete) Green on April 5th, 2024, at age 67. Pete battled his cancer journey with courage, toughness, tenacity, and his faith. Pete was born on August 20th, 1956 in Gainsborough, Saskatchewan, and was the youngest of six children from Lawrence and Margaret Green. Pete spent the first three years of his life on the family farm in the Gainsborough area until he moved with his family to the Duchess area in 1959. Here, he completed his schooling and lived and worked in the Duchess/Brooks area almost exclusively until his passing. He was a loyal employee of the EID for 37 years. Pete cared about his family and extended family, his friends, and community more than anything. He was a caring husband, father, brother, neighbor, and friend. Pete loved to hunt, particularly with his wife, Patty, and his sons and their friends. He always shared what he had: his mechanical skills, his enthusiasm for sausage making, and his enthusiasm for life. Consistent with his commitment to his community, most recently Pete and his wife Patty received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Alberta Fish and Game Association. Left to cherish his memory, Pete leaves to mourn his wife and soulmate, Patty, his children Jessica (Cuong), Jordan (Melissa), Nathan (Mathet), and Patty’s children Sarah (Byron) and Steven (Silken); his grandchildren Annabelle, Jensen, Emmett, Avery, May, Tilly, and Ned; two sisters Willene Stuckey and Kay Taylor (Pat); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pete was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Lawrence Green, his brothers Wayne and Bruce, and his sister Gwen Martel. There will be a funeral service Wednesday April 10th, 2024 at 2:00 PM from Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooks. Pastor Maggie Theiss and Rev. John Theiss officiating. In memory of Pete, in lieu of flowers, you may make a donation directly to Trinity Lutheran Church, 811 Cassils Road West, Brooks, AB T1R 0E4 or to a charity of your choice.
