Deringer – The Deringer/Freundl family deeply mourns the loss of Lisa Deringer, who was born in Brooks, Alberta, on March 8, 1963. Lisa spent her early life in Terkelsbol, Denmark, where she was raised by her loving grandparents, Oma and Opa (Gertrude and Arthur Petersen), alongside her mother Hertha Petersen and sister Mona Petersen. Lisa attended Tonder High School in Tonder, Denmark, until the 11th grade. In 1979, she returned to Brooks and completed her senior year at Brooks Composite High School. Her time in Canada solidified her commitment to family and her dreams for the future. Lisa’s life was defined by her love for her children, whom she shared with her first husband, Gerry Freundl, and her unwavering dedication to her career. After cultivating her hairdressing skills at several hair salons, she opened Studio Elle in 1999, which has been thriving ever since. In 2006, Lisa married Eric Deringer, expanding her family and further enriching her life. Lisa’s passions included traveling, good food, shopping, being with friends and spending quality time with her family and beloved grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her magnetic presence, her ability to light up a room, and the way she made people feel and look their best. Lisa was predeceased by her father, Fred Nissen, and her grandparents, Arthur Petersen and Gurtred Petersen. Her brilliant spirit lives on through her surviving family members: her mother, Hertha Nissen; her sister, Mona Nissen; her brother, Peter Nissen; her sister, Susanne Linneet; her children, Dominique (Neil) Grundy, Mitchell Freundl, and Joshua (Kristen) Freundl; her grandchildren, Grayson, Jaxon, Benson, and Elisabeth Grundy; her husband, Eric Deringer; and her daughter, Miranda Deringer. We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and memories shared with Lisa. A Celebration of her Life will be held at Heritage Inn Hotel and Convention Centre, Brooks, Alberta on Sunday, June 25th 1pm to 5pm, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you kindly consider making a donation directly to either the Canadian Cancer Society https://cancer.ca/en/ways-to-give/personal-donation or Brooks Hospice Society, Bag 300, Brooks, Alberta T1R 1B3. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff who helped Lisa on her journey. A special thank you is extended to Lisa’s friend, Dr. Mari Lynn Tompson, Lisa’s family doctor, for her unwavering commitment and dedication to Lisa’s care. In loving memory of Lisa Deringer, may her bright spirit continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
