Meyer – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wally (Gator) Meyer on October 11th, 2021 at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his two sons, Ken (wife Brigitte) and Kevin. He will be greatly missed by his brothers and sister, Joe, Larry, Rick and Gladys and also by his two granddaughters, Myranda and Jayden. He is predeceased by his brother Randy and sister Helen and daughter-in-law Michelle. Wally was born October 6th, 1941 to Walter and Dorothy Meyer in Prelate Saskatchewan. Wally married Elaine Reynolds on August 23rd, 1962. Together they opened up and ran Wally’s General Store in Tilley for a number of years. After that, he moved to Brooks where he owned and operated Wally’s News & Sports. Later he ran Chinook Recreation Video, then managed local properties until his retirement. He was a great outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting. One of his favorite past times was cheering on his sports teams. He was also well known for his cooking and always made sure everyone was looked after. Special thanks to all the staff at Sunrise Gardens for the care they provided over the past 3 years. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
