Last May Ajou Ajou and Matthew Peterson were drafted by the Canadian Football League and changes have taken place in just eight months.
Last week Ajou was signed by the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts and Peterson by the Hamilton TiCats.
Wide receiver Ajou was drafted 59th overall by the Saskatchewan Rough Riders.
Ajou’s CFL debut was in the second week. He played a dozen games last season earning 20 receptions for 307 yards and had two touchdowns including a 110-yard touchdown.
Last Wednesday the Rough Riders announced that they had released Ajou to allow him to pursue an NFL opportunity and on Friday the NFL Indianapolis Colts announed they had signed Ajou to a reserve/future contract.
“Thank you to my fellow neighbours from Brooks,” Ajou commented on social media following message of congratulations.
“It takes a village & you all supported me through this journey! Now everyone, YOU ARE ALL COLTS FANS NOW.”
Also last Friday the TiCats announced that they had signed four of their 2024 CFL Draft selections, including running back Matthew Peterson who had been drafted in the fourth round, 36th overall.
“Peterson, 23, (24 on Jan. 29) returned to the University of Alberta for a fifth season where he suited up in six games, registering 105 carries for 784 yards and one touchdown, while adding six receptions for 45 yards,” states the release.
He suited up 38 games over his five seasons with the Golden Bears, 2019-23, totalling 477 carries for 3,032 yards and was credited for nine touchdowns, adding 62 receptions for 583 yards and three touchdowns.
