Soganic – Michael Keith Soganic, beloved husband of Mary Laforest of Rosemary, Alberta, passed away suddenly while fishing on a beautiful lake near Cardston, Alberta on June 7th, 2006 at the age of 56 years. Born on September 9th, 1949, Keith was a proud son of Cumberland, BC. He followed in his father’s footsteps to become a faller in the logging industry. He had drove a Special Needs School bus for Courtenay District 71 for 20 years and lovingly cared for his chosen son Josh who resided with him from the age of 6 years until his death. Keith and Mary were married in Cumberland on April 24th , 2004 and moved to Rosemary in July of 2005. He was currently employed in maintenance at Lakeside, Brooks, Alberta. Keith will be lovingly remembered for his love for his family, for his sense of humour, for his love of high mountain lakes and for being forever in pursuit of fast silver trout. He was predeceased by his father Mike in 1975, his mother Dot in 1977, his chosen son Josh Remington in 2002 and his father-in-law John Stubbs in 2005. Keith is survived by his loving wife Mary, daughters Candice Patterson and Kelly Soganic, grandson Jonathan Patterson, sons Skyler and Noel Laforest, daughter Desiree Laforest, brothers Wayne (Ann-Marie) Soganic and Jim (Glenys) Soganic, sister Gloria (Granville) Airton and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 12th from Smith Memorial Chapel, Brooks. Rev. Dean Southern officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were Noel Laforest, Jim Bottcher and Jim Soganic. Pallbearers were Wayne Soganic, Granville Airton, Skyler Laforest, Mike Nuttall, Jim Chamberlain and Troy Drayson.
