Mrs. Hazel Strzelczyk of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, April 15th, 2003 at the age of 86 years.
Hazel leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Allan Hurlburt of Edmonton, Wayne (Sharon) Hurlburt of Medicine Hat and Glen (Elaine) Hurlburt of Haines Junction, Yukon; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Hurlburt of Edmonton; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob (Verna) Bell of Salmon Arm; one sister, Dorothy Clarke of Moose Jaw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her parents, Minnie and Jim Bell; her first husband, Raymond Hurlburt in 1948; her second husband, Theo Strzelczyk in 1986; daughter-in-law, Barbara Hurlburt in 1991; sister, Olga Rayner; and two brothers, Russell and Harold Bell.
Hazel was born in Plentywood, Montana on January 18th, 1917. The family moved to Clearfield, Saskatchewan in 1925. Hazel married Raymond Hurlburt in 1943 and farmed together, raising horses and cattle south of Radville, Saskatchewan. After Raymond’s passing in 1948, the family moved to Radville, Saskatchewan and resided there until Hazel’s marriage to Theo Strzelczyk, a rancher from Jenner, in 1961. T
hey farmed and ranched purebred Herefords until retiring in 1967. Hazel remained on the farm after Theo’s passing in 1986. She moved to Medicine Hat in 1993 spending the last four years in South Country Village. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The Funeral Service was held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Medicine Hat, on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. Interment followed in the Family Plot at Hillside Cemetery, Medicine Hat.
