Wiebe – Gloria Faye Wiebe passed away in Brooks on January 30, 2009 at the age of 55 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Gloria was born on February 24, 1953 in Brooks, Alberta. She married John Wiebe on February 27, 1971. They moved from Brooks to Pine Point, NWT for several years and then returned to make their home in Brooks. Gloria worked in various jobs throughout the community, most recently at the Brooks Post Office. Gloria & John moved to Medicine Hat in 2000 where she operated a restaurant. In 2006, they moved again to Burstall, Saskatchewan where she owned and operated a convenience store and gas bar. Gloria is predeceased by her niece; Christine Smith (1996), father; Ken Smith (1998), son; Corey Wiebe (2003) and nephew; Shane McLaren (2007). She is survived by her loving husband John, her son: Darcy of Strathmore, her special granddaughter; Payge Bratt of Strathmore, mother; Martha Smith of Calgary, sisters: Linda Kranz (LeRoy) of Comanche, Iowa, Lois Cox (Ed) of Glenifer Lake, Terrie Smith of Calgary, Donna Gelineau (Ian) of Leduc and brothers; Jack Smith (Lorna) of Brooks, Gordon Smith (Karen) of Dawson Creek, B.C., Dennis Smith (Lorraine) of Red Deer as well as various aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and other family members. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 5, at 2:00 PM from the Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks.
