    Wiebe – John Wiebe was born on March 6, 1927 in Milden, Sk. to Peter and Katharina Wiebe. He passed away in Brooks, Ab. on March 6, 2015. He was 88 years old. At two years of age, he moved with his parents and older sister, Mary, to Gem, Ab. The following year, his parents purchased a farm in the Rosemary area. Two sisters, Margaret and Edna, joined the family. John attended the Clemenceau School located 1 ½ miles west of the farm. He also attended Menno Bible School in Didsbury, Ab. He had a happy childhood and youth, helping his father on the farm. He also worked for the C.P.R., the Hironaka family, Peltzer’s Potatoes and his brother-in-law, Jake Eckert, in Duchess. In 1961, he moved with his parents to the village of Rosemary. In 2009, he moved to Sunrise Gardens in Brooks where he resided until his passing. John was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Katharina Wiebe, sisters, Mary Wiens and Margaret Eckert and brother-in-law, Albert Bittner. He is survived by his sister, Edna Bittner; brother-in-law, Jake Wiens; brother-in-law, Jake Eckert and nieces and nephews, Loreen (Harold) Forrest; Ernest (Kathy) Wiens; Richard (Esther) Wiens; Larry (Susan) Wiens; Lillian (John) Duenk; Eric (Sheila) Eckert; Ron (Bonnie) Eckert; Janet Loewen and Bob Bittner and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. at THOM’S FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE in Duchess. Interment at Rosemary Cemetery with Rev. Jake Unrau officiating.
