TURUK – Theresa Viola Turuk passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Sunrise Gardens in Brooks, Alberta at the age of 68. Theresa was born in Bruno, Saskatchewan on February 13, 1949 to Albert and Margaret Spengler (Berscheid). She was the fourth of eight children. Theresa married Steve Turuk in November, 1967. They had three children: Rodney, Roberta, and Mark. Theresa worked at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce for many years. Shortly after her marriage ended, Theresa met Wolfgang Classen (Hogi). They spent over 30 years together. Theresa and Hogi took a Caribbean cruise together and also visited the Dominican Republic. Theresa enjoyed her grandchildren. She was an avid fan of Claudia’s softball. She also liked watching Jack play volleyball. Watching parades, going for walks, and meeting friends for coffee at Tim Hortons were other activities that gave Theresa pleasure. Theresa volunteered at the Adult Day Support Program for over 15 years. Theresa is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Margaret Spengler. Theresa leaves behind seven brothers and sisters: Doreen Szigli, Arnold Spengler, Marilyn Walsh, Emil Spengler, Melvin Spengler, Irvin Spengler, and Kathy Davis. Theresa is survived by her beloved Hogi; children Rod Turuk, Roberta Lawrence, and Mark Turuk; grandchildren Jack Lawrence, and Claudia Turuk. Funeral services will be held at Thom’s Funeral Home and Reception Centre on Saturday, March 11 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated.
