Trump’s Plan to Annex Canada – What No One is Talking About

Editor, The Bulletin;
There is a key factor regarding Trump’s plan to annex Canada / Mexico that no one is mentioning and may be the very point of it all.
Back in 1994 the North American Free Trade Agreement – Nafta came into force, and there was serious talk about amalgamating the 3 countries into one economic region, similar to the European Union we see today. The idea of a new North American currency was floated as well.
During Trump’s first term a replacement for Nafta emerged with the USMCA – United States, Mexico, Canada Agreement and became a reality July 1, 2020.
The idea of a North American Union is decades old and is not something Trump simply made up. This European style union is most likely the underlying agenda at play here and is what the Premiers and MPs need to factor in as they embark on a trade war with a 900 pound gorilla.
When asked if he would use “military force to annex, or acquire” Canada”, Trump said no “economic force”. Some think he is just trolling, or bluffing, to create a better bargaining position. Maybe so, but one thing we must understand is that there is a desire to amalgamate our three countries into one entity, even if only financially.
The use of economic force should concern us all as it may not just be tariffs used to accomplish this goal, We might see the value of our dollar affected as well, among other things. This threat of “economic force” is better than “military force” but still a serious issue.
Our political class must see this underlying desire for a North American Union, hard to imagine they don’t, and need to explain to Canadians what could be afoot in order for our nation to develop a proper counter measure. Thing is, I doubt Canadians will be informed on this decades old plan underpinning annexing Canada and we will only be left to digest the political theatre created around it.
