The Grasslands Soccer Association’s soccer fields could be built near the quad ball diamonds.
According to county councillor and recreation committee member Greg Skriver there will be a discussion in the future.
“The site has approval from Grasslands Soccer Association and last night (Wednesday) we recommended that to city council for the use of that land,” he said.
The city-owned old rodeo grounds was the first choice following a presentation to the recreation committee, however, the city gave the 23.5 acres to the Catholic school.
“The good thing is that the Brooks city does own that land. Hopefully we can get this behind us by 2026. That may be coming down pipe for some funding,” Skriver told council on Thursday.
Grasslands representatives are expected to attend the Dec. 2 council meeting.
