Mayor John Petrie ran on a promise to get lights at Lake Stafford and it just may happen this term.
On Monday city council committee agreed to apply for federal funds through the Active Transportation Fund in hopes of receiving 60 per cent of the costs which are estimated at about $250,000.
The program would involve 80 LED lights installed around the trail which is believed would increase usage all year while acting as a way to deter vandalism and increase security.
The city’s linear trail program has $100,000 set aside for 2025.
City council was to further discuss the initiative during Monday’s council meeting.
